The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

I left Penn State in 1970 to teach sociology courses as assistant professor at The Behrend College of Penn State in Erie for seven years. I moved to industry and worked for General Electric Co. for 2 1/2 years, and for American Sterilizer Co. (AMSCO) for 6 years as an associate industrial engineer and later as technical training instructor. Then I went into financial services as a registered representative of various insurance companies, while at the same time teaching sociology as an adjunct professor at various local colleges and universities. Then I worked as community educator for Northwestern Legal Services for 13 years and retired in January 2006 at age 72. Meanwhile I have been serving in the boards of directors of some six non-profit organizations. I served as president of four boards of directors for one- or two-year terms. But I was president of the Filipino American Association of Northwestern Pennsylvania for some 20 years until last year. I have been president of the Mental Health Association of Northwestern Pennsylvania for five years now. After five years of widowhood (Alicia, my wife of 46 years, passed away in 2004) and three years of retirement, I went back to work as financial literacy educator for the Greater Erie Community Action Committee. I remarried (Linda Jean) in August last year. Life is back to normal again with the 21 grandchildren (from 5 children).
